Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 – End of Support

Many organizations struggle to migrate their older applications. This may be due to tight dependencies on older, unsupported operating system versions, limited operational expertise, and/or lack of access to installation media or source code. Purchasing extended support for these applications only delays the inevitable.

How exactly does it work?

EMP for Windows Server includes technologies and expert advice to migrate your older applications from Windows Server 2003, 2008, and 2008 R2 to newer, supported versions in the AWS Cloud.

There is no need for a Technology Refresh in the process. AWS EMP technology decouples applications from the underlying operating system. EMP technology does this by determining your application’s dependencies on the outdated operating system and creating a package with the necessary resources to run the application on a newer version of Windows Server.

This package contains all application files, executables, components, and deployment tools, as well as an engine that redirects API calls from your application to files in the package.

This resolves dependencies and decouples the application from the underlying operating system. You can then run the packaged application on future versions of Windows Server. This way, you don’t have to worry about upgrading these applications when support for another version of Windows Server is discontinued.
